Wedding Gown Alterations - What to expect!

Congratulations on finding “The One!” I can’t wait to see you in your gown and want to give an idea of what to expect when you attend your fittings.

When attending fittings at the studio, it is usually recommended to book an initial fitting well in advance of your wedding day. This is an opportunity to try on your gown and accessories at the studio so that I can assess the alterations required and provide a full quote for the work involved. Once you are happy with the quote, a deposit secures your space in the workflow and further fittings will be booked in closer to your wedding day.

Your fittings will start 12 weeks prior to your wedding to guarantee an exact fit on the day. Most brides will attend three appointments for their alterations so this timescale is necessary in order to allow for fittings and completion of the work to your gown. This timescale may be adjusted in certain circumstances, for example during pregnancy.

You are beautiful as you are and your partner chose you because of this, however if you wish to tone up/diet before your wedding please ensure that your weight is stable by the time you attend your first fitting. Any additional alterations required due to weight change will be charged for and it is very hard to fit a dress to a moving target! If your weight is likely to fluctuate due to medication/pregnancy etc please advise ASAP so that I can work with you to ensure that your dress fits correctly on the day.

Please arrive promptly for your fittings and bring the correct shoes, undergarments and shape wear (if required!) with you to every fitting. I cannot perform a fitting without these items.

Bra cups can be fitted to most gowns especially if your dress has a low neckline making wearing a bra difficult. Please advise at the first fitting if you are considering this option.

Every bride and every gown is different, therefore every set of alterations is different. Prices are based on the alterations required, construction of the gown and type of fabrics used so I cannot offer an accurate quote without seeing you in your gown. I have however, included a copy of the price guide below to give an idea of the charges.

We can also accommodate bridesmaid and other special occasion alterations at the studio!

A full quote will be provided at the first fitting for your alterations. A 50% non refundable deposit is required up front and the balance is payable once the work has been completed at the final fitting and you are happy with the finished garment. Both card and cash payments are accepted.

Feel free to bring any accessories that you wish to try on with your gown with you. We book private appointments so you will have plenty of time at each fitting to make sure everything is perfect!

I look forward to working with you and seeing you in your beautiful gown!
